It's beginning to look a bit like Christmas...

It's time to get into the Christmas spirit!! We've put lights in our windows, a wreath on the front door and now we are starting on the inside of the house. Gordie is not home to man-handle the tree into submission so I started on some of the lesser involved items like garlands, etc. I came across a string of colored lights that I have no idea where they may have come from. I'm a "white light type" myself. Not surprising, the kids loved the lights and we plugged them into the wall even though they weren't hanging on anything.

This morning, Landon set up his "house" with the cool lights. This is his "house".

Answers to questions you may have subconsciously asked yourself:
-that is hot chocolate on his face. He made it himself.
-yes, those are pajama bottoms and today's tshirt. He wanted to wear it to bed and I let him.
- I don't know how this constitutes a house either.

Before he set this up, he had simply plugged the lights in and was squinting at them. He told me that if you look at them like you are crying, they look really cool, like stars. Bearing that in mind, I showed him these pictures to illustrate to him how the camera tries to do the same thing as our eyes, and we end up with pictures with "bokeh" in them, (I didn't actually say "bokeh" to him) but maybe some photo lover reader loves bokeh as much as me and would understand my excitement. Christmas lights and glittery surfaces make really easy-to-capture bokeh, while other times it just happens with the right combination of light and depth of field.

cute kid.

I thought his picture frame added a nice decorating touch to his 'house'.

Ramona: I know where those lights came from. They were the "nightlight" for that scary room with the slopy ceilings. I got them for the kids last year to use to make it a little brighter at night. HA -- I loved the comment about looking at the lights like you were crying. CUTE! from Vic
