Can't they stay little forever?

I have mentioned before how Landon's "little-boy-speak" goes uncorrected around here simply because we know how quickly it will naturally correct itself. And we all get a kick out of it. It's the quirkiness of the big, misused words placed in among his 5 year old expressions.

Today, he was "scaring" me with his monster sounds but relented because I was not paying very close attention. He came over and said "Mom I am sorry for scaring you, that was just a reaction of me." And yesterday walking into a store I asked him if he was chilly and he said "a little of bit".

It reminded me of Maura when she was little waking up from her nap and saying "I woke upped".

Part of me wants that to last forever. Selfishly, of course. The kids want to grow up and FAST.

It was so long ago, but I still remember my siblings talking like that. Sometimes those memories flash back to me like I was there in that exact moment again. Leanne, a tiny little curly haired tot, would stop my dad as he was going down the stairs and say "Dit day Daddy" meaning "sit there Daddy" and he would sit on the top step for her to climb onto his shoulders and carry her down the stairs. I also remember coming home from school one day and seeing her with pigtails. Two curly pigtails about an inch long, high up on her head. That was seriously one of the cutest sights I have ever seen.

I might also add that I watched Mark tumble down the full set of stairs a few times. Definately more than once. Mom happened to hear it or see it once and was horrified, and I can imagine very scared that he had damaged something or other. But Barry and I were unfazed, telling her "he always falls down the stairs!"

When I was home for the month before I got married, I was spending the days with Ashley who was 2 years old and who said "Fee-haw" instead of sweetheart. So guess what I called Gordie on our honeymoon and for several years after that. "Fee-haw" Can you imagine anything more romantic? I think he secretly liked it though.

At the Dudgeons

After the wedding of Ash and Uriah; we ALL stayed at the Dudgeon's house. ALL included many of the Dudgeon family and their children as well as all of the Macdonald family that was present for the wedding...so LOTS of people. It was awesome. I'm not saying that everyone slept....but it was a very welcoming and warm place to stay. We had a fun evening, great visits, getting to know the other side of Ashley's family and and then an amazing breakfast. After breakfast, the horses were a brought out and ridden by the kids. That was what sealed the deal...now the kids want to move to WI. Because everyday in Wisconsin MUST be just like the day after Ash's wedding :)

Here are some of breakfast; I am still wading through the editing on the wedding pics.

David is eating a massive cinnamon roll while trying to pretend that little Nate is not begging and pleading for a bite. How can you resist a precious little man like Nate?

Dad is having a good laugh with Leanne. Wish I could hear it right now.

Leanne with Morgan, one of Ashley's "new" nephews- a very cute little guy from Alaska. There's Mom in the background.
