The dreaded word...lice....

No, nobody in our house has it :) But there have been lice outbreaks in our wonderful suburban school ever since school started. Both David and Maura have come home with the dreaded letter that a child had lice in the classroom- David actually had 2 fellow students affected in one week. Not to mention that one of the girls sat very close to him. I am not freaked out about it, treat it and get on with life. Thankfully, none of my kids have been infested so far.

I didn't realize the magnitude of the issue until last night. We had a large group of Girl Scouts attending a sleep over in the school cafeteria. I am a co-leader and was there for the night. The school nurse was proactive about the issue and insisted that each girl's belongings be kept separate, etc. It was well into the evening when a mom noticed that one of the little girls was continually scratching her head. An indiscreet check revealed the worst....lice! The poor kid was so embarrassed and had to go home. One of the leaders had a product called Fairy Tales Hair Care that they spray on their child' s hair every day before school. It contains Rosemary (the herb) and apparently lice don't like the smell, (so your pork roast is safe too). This was the first I heard of it, so I thought I would pass it along to you! I was amazed that the info about the product was not more well known.
