Since Maura, David and Adam have gone to PEI, (Canada) for the week without us, Landon has found himself in the enviable position of "the only child". You know what that means~ we are the only humans left to absorb the energy that he produces.
The effects of this dynamic energy shift is sometimes positive. It's wonderful to have all the time to devote to him and not worry about making everyone happy at the same time, etc. The laundry has dwindled to a small heap since he wants to wear the same clothes everyday, there are only 3 breakfast dishes to wash and one lunch to make. And no play-dates at all.
Yet, we may also find the shift to contain some negative factors. Recall walking across your pine floors everyday while wearing sneakers, flip-flops, bare feet, etc. and never considering the durability of the floor until one day you clomp across it in high heels. Soon, the "softwood" part of the pine species becomes real and you see little heel imprints in your floor. The energy that is normally distributed all over a flat shoe surface is now transferred onto one tiny heel bottom and that's how you get your imprints.
Get what I'm saying? He's intense when you are the only absorbers.
In the past few days we have considered the following possibilities:
a) he may have undiagnosed Rabies because he is all but foaming at the mouth
b) he may have gotten into a whole box of Nicotine patches and has secretly applied them to his body because he is THAT nutty.
But seriously, I can't deny that the boy has a crazy side but he also has a sweet and peaceful side. He cuddles and says very, very, overly positive things and gives huge measurements of his love to us (I love you a million, Mom). Besides, those imprints in the floor- they add character, in my opinion.
We went to the splash pad yesterday but he didn't want to get wet. So he played on the playscape instead. He is trying to master the monkey bars.
And on Sunday he got his own pizza box. That made him very happy. He brought it home and hand fed the pizza to Sapphire.
