This weekend was the annual Bible conference in Terryville, a town nearby. Traditionally, it has been a weekend, that kicks off the fall "conference season". 19 years ago, Mom flew in to town for the conference and we drove home to Cape Breton together in my Festiva. First, we stopped in Boston to pick up my wedding dress. That night, she took me to visit her cousins in New Hampshire and then we drove home the next day. So long ago- Mom was only 2 years older than I am right now. But there I go getting sentimental.
What we are talking about on a conference weekend is lots of company, coffee, overeating, teenagers, new clothes for most of the crew and a great chance to catch up with old friends. We were delighted to host a family we had never met before. They have two adorable and well behaved kiddos. Maura was happy because she never gets "girls" to come and visit. Basically, Josh V. from NJ calls and tells us how many he is bringing and we pile them all in- that's why it's always boys.

As things wound down on Saturday evening and I was putting Landon in bed, he felt a little hot. I checked his temp- 102.5. Not the best when you have a houseful of company. You wouldn't have thought it to look at him- running around like a crazy person. So the routine is: meds, call Dr. office.....and off he went to sleep. He cooled down overnight but was back to 102.2 in the am. I gave him more meds and that was the last we saw of the fever. But we had to stay home on Sunday. L..o..n..g..e..s..t.. day ever. He was fun to be home with, nary a whimper or complaint from him, but we were bored knowing the others would not be along until 8pm at the earliest.
He passed some of the time playing games on my laptop. He was trying to play one on facebook called Bejeweled Blitz. The whole point is to make sets of 3 really, really fast and you can get an average of like 20-50k points in a game. If you get a 25k or 50k run, it asks to post a message to your {soon to be ex-} friends on facebook. My little man was getting 650 points, sometimes 30k points, but mostly he was mired in the zone of less than 1000 points. He called me over because there was a message that he had to respond to and he wanted to know which button to click. The message said "Ramona (him really) has scored 750 points in bejeweled blitz, and she wants her friends to see if they can beat that amazing score." And it wanted to know if he wanted to post that to my facebook page! The poor little man, he had no idea Facebook was being sarcastic and mean to him because he thought he was doing great. That is what he is playing in those pics above.
