Fall catch-up

I know I am not a real writer because I need almost complete silence to have any kind of complete thought process. It's never completely quiet here. Plus I have a mild case of ADD. It's just mild though :) That's why it is so hard to write on this blog- never enough time to start and finish.

We have had a very busy Fall, running like crazy, lots of traveling for Gord, lots of projects for me but much of that is slowing down just in time for.....the Holidays! We are looking forward to Christmas- hoping to get started on decorating and Christmas card pic next week.

But before all that, I should mention that the G-man and I just had a great little getaway to celebrate our 21st anniversary. We dumped our kids on Ashley and Uriah and spent the weekend in downtown Boston. That is a great place to go if you just have a day or two free, there is so much to do and see. It was great to be "just us" and the weather was fantastic. We walked the streets at 11pm on Friday night and it was so busy and warm, great atmosphere.

The kids have been doing great in school. Both Adam and Dave achieved honors on their quarterly report cards. Maura's report card is practically perfect, always the teacher's pet and has many friends, no improvements necessary. She does try hard and it pays off. Landon, ahem, academically does well, he has lots of friends but needs improvement with focus, not distracting others, the.list.goes.on. I'm just being transparent here, the child is smart but he is challenged by sitting still and so we are seeing where that all goes. The teachers love him, because he is funny and says things that are way beyond the vocab that would be expected of his age and that is in his favor at this point. We are continuing to work on that with him and everyday this mom sits at her desk at work and prays that her little man will focus, stay out of trouble and behave. Let's just say that my prayers don't get answered everyday.

We made a trip to Canada because my Grandma passed away. I miss her and love her but I'm glad for the reunion that awaited her in Heaven. There is much I would like to say about her and I'm working on a separate post, I want to talk about her and I wish I could write down EVERY memory, everything I remember about her and her house, her lilacs, her comfortable shoes, her bread, her love of birds and her pointing out to me that the leaves were changing and that they would soon fall to the ground and wasn't that beautiful! Her home was always  open and I was always there, not playing off in a room by myself but with her, stuck right next to her while she tried to read and write letters.   I always knew I had the fairytale grandma. See, I have lots to say about that. Later.
