Cultured? Negative.

Landon had his 5 year checkup at the doctor's last week. It was a hour of resistance, balking, refusing, crying and an intense lack of interest on Landon's part. He did not want to do the eye exam because he mistakenly believed that it involved the doctor sticking things into his eyes. Even though he knew he was not going to have shots (we had done those the week before) he was still a nervous little wreck. There was no way to get the child to do any of the required checklist items without making it happen with full parental force. However, when the doctor asked Landon to "pee in the cup", he was too bewildered to resist, this strange concept was fascinating enough to actually go along with. Several minutes and a million questions later , the deed was done- a bountiful specimen was presented to the nurse. We moved on to more mundane matters such as having the mystery white thing removed from his ear with the WaterPik.

Last night, as we entertained a large group of friends and relations, Landon, who had been playing Club Penguin on the computer, came out and told a couple of the girls that "I peed in the cup, just like I did at the doctor's" and they followed him into the Study to check it out. Sure enough, sitting right beside the keyboard was a partially filled SOLO cup, just as he said. When asked why he didn't just go to the bathroom, he told us that he "didn't want the computer to log him off".

That reminds me of the people in casinos who are so reluctant to leave their slot machines that they wear suitable disposal undergarments.

Please send help.
