David has been reading about Celtic swords and rings and how different clans used rings (among other items) as their means of identification. Apparently the rings were exclusive to their clans, and those rings were worn on their swords so that they could produce their "ID" without taking off their gauntlets and other stuff that enabled them to ruthlessly kill each other with their almost bare hands. I told him that that was his ancestory, he's mostly Scottish and that there is a Macdonald tartan and even a Ramsay one. He already knew all that though. We joked about how the Italians (the other ethnic background my kids have) probably wouldn't like Scotland because of the food and he said yeah, and it wouldn't be "Clan Ramsay" it would be "Gang Ramsay".
